la cucaracha.....

After our pretty horrendous jeep safari we were met with the prospect of traveling on another rickety, packed bus with no seats for another 7 hours back to the coast through mountainous roads in the rain...NOT ON YOUR NELLY.

We hired a taxi and drove to the train station, thinking that we had plenty of time as the train would be predictably late but we should have known - nothing is predictable in India! The train was on time, we arrived with 10 minutes to spare and no tickets - George managed to sweet talk the massive queue to grab us some general class tickets (no seat reservation) and we ran down the platform to jump on the train with seconds to spare!

Following a strained conversation with the ticket inspector we were able to nab a couple of sleeper beds in 3rd class. Relieved, we hopped onto our bunks but unbeknown to us they were already occupied...by millions of cockroaches!!! OK, perhaps not millions but certainly enough to leave us dumb struck for a good 10 minutes, debating how tired we were. Sleepiness won in the end and we rested our heads, on watch until we could fight it no longer...sleeping with the 'roaches, nice
