As beef cattle go, these beasts have a very good life. They are born on the farm, raised on grass from spring to autumn and sheltered in huge barns with masses of space and straw in the winter.
And the people who have looked after them are very genuinely sad to see them go.
"You've just got to close your mind to it, lass" I was told.
I'm not sure it was me he was trying to convince.
