Sheep!
I had no idea what we'd be doing when we came wwoofing. Stroud Slad Farm has cattle (grass fed, free range, organic), sheep, a few chickens, some horses for riding and therapy, hay for feed, and the shared veggie plots, from yesterday's entry. We could have cleaned toilets, for all I knew. Today we got to do the classic: run across a field shouting "sheep" in a high pitched voice (only the leader had to do that), the rest of us waving our arms and keeping the sheep together.
After the sheep wrangling, we "picked up sticks" on a bank. Wilson imagined nice bundles of evenly sized sticks, ready to be gathered up. Alas. It was pulling out lots of dead wood, brambles, and other sticks from the steep stepped banks, making the walking a little easier for the grazing animals. It was hard on our ankles and backs! We pulled all the wood out and piled it up and had an ongoing bonfire. One before lunch in one field, one after lunch in another field.
Tomorrow, if the weather is still lovely, we'll walk to Slad then beyond to Painswick. If it rains, we might drive to the Forest of Dean.
