A Small Fresh

We had a bit of a storm here yesterday. It certainly was not as dramatic as the big downpour and flooding that occurred “over the hill” in Nelson city yesterday. However the heavy rain has made for a “small fresh” in the Taylor River. The ford over the river to the Omaka airfield and our favourite tracks has failed yet again. It was only reinstated a few days ago. The yet to be completed low-level railway bridge further downstream has been let off lightly this time with the river water running smoothly under the structure. There needed to be a large amount of shingle moving by heavy machinery over the last few days to repair the damage caused by the flooding as shown here on the 11th of June.
