Free as a Bird

A pair of partridges came into the garden today and this one obligingly sat on the fence until I got as close as it dared let me, then it flew away.

Thank you so much for all your messages of concern over my mangled hand yesterday. LooseCanon and I are respectively a retired GP and Physio, so we were pretty confident in our diagnosis and treatment, but as we happened to be passing the local minor injuries unit later yesterday I popped in.

It was indeed a tiny fracture across the base of my little finger, it is all strapped up, massively swollen and bruised but I'll live. I can even drive today so like the partridge I'm as free as a bird. Well, not quite......
