Bee mimic fly

I spotted this fly outside my Mum and Dad's front door. It clearly wants to look like a bee and I guess this gives it some protection from some predators.

It was investigating the wasps entering the air brick in the house and after a bit of searching I think this is a Pellucid Fly which it seems is parasitic on wasps nests. There is certainly a wasps nest as there has been many times over the years and it looks as though this fly knows that now.

I looked at the detail on the shiny back of the fly and my own reflection taking the photograph is visible - amazing!
