Mystery objects

David, who I have blipped earlier came in today with a couple of objects for me... I had to guess what they were, and failed miserably!

The larger of the two is a tool used to strip willow and the little one is a splitter used if willow was too thick. They were both used in basket making. David's father used to make baskets to sell as the family travelled.

We are having a basket making day later on in the summer and David will join us for this - looking forward to seeing these traditional tools in use.
