We Hoped for Another Great Day.......

............but we certainly did not expect to see this Mongoose !!

Early this morning it rained really hard - as it often does here - within 20 mins clearing up to give blue skies and white clouds most of the day.
We drove down and across to the South and East side of the Island following the coast all the way with many stops to admire the breathtaking views.

We then made our way to the Ho'omaluhia Botanical Garden, Luluku Road, Kaneohe - they are open from 9am until 4pm - admission free!

Whilst I waited in the reception area, Anni went back to the car to get her mosquito repellent and - Yes! the third thing happened - she shut the boot (trunk) lid with the car keys the inside! There was just over an hour before the gates were locked for the night and we have our flight to Oregon in the morning.

The car hire people couldn't guarantee to get to us before the gates were locked!!

Never short of ingenuity, Anni got some very strong wire from one of the Wardens and jimmied the lock - she was a bit surprised when there was a click and we were in!! No damage whatsoever. Doesn't say much for a Mustangs security!!!

We didn't get to see much of the gardens as by the time Anni
finished her "break-in" we were a bit too late to have a proper look round the gardens on foot but did have a drive around - absolutely gorgeous and as both a consolation and a bonus, spotted this mongoose scampering around in the grass!

We have now had three sort of dramas - surely we have had our sho now !!
