O Funny Death

At Woodlands Cemetery there was a family event to celebrate the start of the firefly season. I stopped by to chat about some very old elm trees, which I'll blip next time. However, this ordinary-looking grave was brought to my attention and stole the show for my evening.

I am not a musician, so the whole thing would have been lost on me. The four musical notes indicate D, E, A, D --and they are followed by for rests.

I will endeavor to find out more about the musical 24-year old H. Forrest Smith Junior. Since his tombstone brings laughter after 123 years, I suspect that the rest of his story will not bore me.
