More wine anyone?

This lovely shrub, a hybrid of the Chinese Calycanthus (or Sinocalycanthus) sinensis and the American C. florida is named Calycanthus x raulstonii 'Hartlage Wine' and makes a fine large shrub in time, we're told. Mine is quite young and flowering for the first time. The flowers are maybe 2.5 " across.

This hybrid was produced by Richard Hartlage and introduced by the J C Raulston Arboretum in North Carolina.
