The Gym.

Neither architecturally or aesthetically beautiful perhaps, but this building has a significance for me.

The gym at MMU's Didsbury campus closed today for the last time. The university has sold the land (which is at a massive premium round here) for development. Gone will be the gym and sports hall, the library and all the classrooms and studios. Everyone who has enjoyed using them is very sad. They've served the local, as well as the student, community.

I found time to drop in at just after 12pm today (2 hours before they closed) and, guess what? The place was packed!

Totally unplanned, loads of the members had thought that the best way to say 'thanks' to the staff was to go for a final session and bring it to a (sweaty, breathless) close together. It was quite something!
