Barcelona Day 2
Well in fact not much time was spent in the city centre today as we ventured out to the amazing village of Montserrat. At 1236 meters (4055 ft) high up it one spectacular place to visit even though it is a little bit tourist heavy for my liking.
The village is largely there because of the Santa Maria de Montserrat Abbey which is rather spectacular, religious pilgrims flock here from all over the world.
More Info about the history can be found here
After visit in the grand building we took the second funicular railway of the day which took us even higher where we could take a walk to Sant Joan which offers uninterrupted views of the whole of Catalunya.
It was a dizzying walk up about 300 roughly cut steps in the rock then a very narrow ledge walk, both with huge drops off the mountain side. Poor Claire I'm sure was not enjoying it all but she did so well conquering her fear of heights.
We made it up and back down in one piece and enjoyed lunch in the amazing village of Montserrat. The trip back down on the train was fantastic and the road that goes up to the village was clearly visible and looked like a great motorbiking road, I may have to return one day and take the road.

Back to La Rambla in the heart of Barcelona for dinner in a rather fine restaurant called El Gran Cafe which is nearly 100 years old.
Thanks for looking
