It Takes Two (Or Does It?)
Here's one of the local Pyrrhuloxia (Cardinalis sinuatas) being eyeballed by a Curve-billed Thrasher (Toxostoma curvirostre). Larger Duo
The Pyrrhuloxia is also known in some circles as a Grey Cardinal. The Thrashers are almost as territorial as Zippy, the hummingbird. But this Cardinal wasn't intimidated. He stood his ground and got his belly full of water before moving along.
No birds "took a thrashing" today.
I know. *groan*
