Mateus and Kayla

A day for chores and playing catch-up (will we ever)? Went up the hill again with the dogs, in the hope of getting better shots of the hummingbirds, but wound up making new friends instead. While I lurked in the bushes waiting for the birds, I heard someone talking to our big dog from behind the fence. Thought I’d better say hallo, and found it was the caretaker, who told me all about his dog, which he had saved from a hideous death from poisoning with a mixture of clayey mud, olive oil and an egg (must note that down). When I asked him the name of the bush with the large white flowers I could see in the distance behind him, he invited me in to meet his wife and see the property. They were a delightful couple, simple and sincere, and they gave me a royal tour of the immaculately groomed garden, although I didn’t have time to visit the lower part – it’s huge. When I tore myself away, as I still had to go into town, they called their son over from the neighbour’s house. I had already met him a few weeks ago – a dear little chap, very chatty and he loves dogs, so here he is with Kayla.
