Can't a girl just eat in peace?
Rascaletta, the littlest deer, was peacefully enjoying her meal of corn kernels and apples when she was suddenly confronted by a greedy turkey...actually a dozen greedy turkeys...but only one is pictured here. She persevered for a minute or so, continuing with her meal in spite of being seriously outnumbered, but finally she moved away, and the turkeys finished her meal.
Did she give up? No way, not Rascaletta. She may be the smallest deer in the park, but she's certainly one of the spunkiest and most persistent. She left the remaining few kernels to the turkeys and went looking for my husband Bob, the source of good treats. Then she followed him down the trail, hoping for more.
I didn't get any more pictures after this. We had walked around all the of trails looking for the little deer and were heading back to the parking lot when she appeared. By that time, it was very nearly dark, so that was the end of blipping for the evening. The light was very bad all day, given the weather. It didn't rain, but was almost like being fogged in. The weather email on my computer said that the fog warning had been lifted and it would clear up, but what do they know? They aren't out in the park trying to take pictures in the dark.
That's the story for today. I hope you enjoyed seeing Rascaletta again.
