Nuts about Matariki

Matariki is the Maori New Year and marked by the rising of a certain constellation of stars.

In Wanaka it's a very popular evening with a bonfire on the beach and a fireworks display from the jetty. The roasted chestnut lady photographed here must love it, she was doing a roaring trade.
