Bug?

Not sure what this is. I caught sight of it out of the corner of my eye, then had to move some very high nettles to get close enough for this shot. It has the markings of some sort of bug, though it didn't move at all. Maybe some sort of bud that's fallen off a tree somewhere near?

Anyone any ideas?
