The Diver

This green heron was on a bulkhead on Thalia Point this morning. I’ve seen green herons her before and always thought they were looking for insect in the seams of the wood as as spotted sandpipers do. However, This one was running from place to place looking for fish. When it spotted one, it would wtch it until it came into range, bend way over the water and then dive head first on it, and then get back up on the bulkhead to eat the fish. The water at the bulkhead was too deep for the bird to wade.
