A Handful of Stars

…Trafalgar Studios, Whitehall

A play by Billy Roche set in Wexford, Ireland.

This was superb. It portrayed a slice of bleak, late-adolescent, working-class life in small-town, 1980s Ireland. Nothing much happens - especially in the first half. I felt as if were a fly on the wall watching not actors but real people in this studio theatre.

Both Lyn Gardner in The Guardian and Dominic Cavendish in The Telegraph gave it four stars.

It’s on until 15th July.
