Camera Day

Today, 29 June 2014 is (National) Camera Day and this is the camera that changed everything for me and one of my favorite photographs taken with it.

The Canon AE1 came to market in 1976 and I brought mine in January 1977 in Honk Kong were I was visiting with the Royal Navy at the age of 18.

The Seacat missile photograph shown was taken in 1980 onboard the British frigate HMS Minerva (F45) with me pushing the shutter on the AE1 when I heard the command 'fire' given. It is my favourite shot I ever took with the AE1.
