The Old and the New

Today, amazingly, we got an egg from one of the new chickens. Not expected, because they are supposed to be at Point of Lay and not ready for a couple of weeks. Trying to work out which one laid it, but here it is, next to one of our older girl's efforts. The yolk is pale in comparison with the ones that we have been feeding for longer. Not surprising as they have been kept out of the light (dark barns) and fed on less than ideal food. They will now get quality pellets, crushed sweet corn and have a large area to roam and get all the bugs and grubs they can find.
