The Croft
Went round to Outer Dale to get some eggs. Met Neil in the small Fergie on his way to Greenigoe. He told me there was plenty of eggs. £1 for a half dozen of really red eggs, he often brings us round a couple of free boxes when they are laying well.
Later today he is going to break up quite a few old hen hooses for firewood. The old hooses date from 1946 so he feels they are about done.
Whilst I was there a white calfie appeared on its own, it had somehow got out of the field. I coaxed it back into the kale yard. It was quite peaceable as they are all hand reared. Its mother diidn't seem concerned at all. However I couldn't get it inside the steading - however at least it wasn't on the road.
The hoose where the eggs are boxed is behind the John Deere. You leave your money in a dish. There's another John Deere behind the one in front.
