We will remember them!

This morning I went to the National Memorial Aboretum at Alrewas near Lichfield. I'd never been before despite it being so close to home.

It is a fascinating place. There was some kind of event on with many veterans and serving military, all the former proudly wearing their medals. It was clearly a special place for them all. Something like a pilgrimage I felt for many of them. A place that arouses feelings and memories that only they can understand. I felt humbled.

I took only one image of the old soldiers. That and others from the NMA are here. It felt like an intrusion to take their pictures.

The grounds are much larger than I anticipated. You could easily spend a day there. Maybe a quieter one than today though.
