Heads Up

It has been only three days since I noticed the toadspawn has grown back legs. Now some of them have already grown front legs and are starting to sit up. They have gone from constantly nibbling bits of leaf and mindlessly swimming around the pond oblivious to all danger to suddenly being aware of every sound and movement and throwing themselves into the water when anything approaches. Indeed now when I walk to the pond, if quiet, I can hear a flurry of water as they all try and dive into the water at the same time.

This one is the first to poke his head up from the swampy plant pot at the edge.
