This was taken at high tide, at 9:15am; the most common view of this river is that of mud due to the extraordinarily high tidal range of the River Usk. In view are three of Newport's bridges: Newport City Footbridge; George Street Bridge; City (A48) Bridge.

To the right is the Riverfront Theatre & Arts Centre, with the newly opened University of South Wales City Campus, further along the west bank, containing engineering laboratories, music suites, & design, film & performing arts studios.
