A day for dreaming
So basically chili and cornbread is my favorite meal of all time. I have no idea why, it just is. This particular chili was not as good as I wish I would have been (no cliantro or red onion on top...just not up to par) and the cornbread is not a sacred recipe passed on from generation to generation...unless I have a Great Granny Jiffy. But after a day of going around town running errands I found myself emptying cans and browning meat and smelling the distinctive smell of cornbread setting up in the oven. Oh thank you Lord.
I want so badly to one day have really awesome bowls that are set aside in my kitchen solely for chili and big beautiful spoons to scoop it up with. Maybe even have the spoons etched with things like, "Hot Stuff, In Coming". Only a dream at this point...but what is life without dreams. The meal is my favorite with or without those "status symbols". So now I will just appreciate the mix matched bowls and spoon and be thankful for a day of rest and relaxation that was given to us as a holiday to remember someone who gave his life to God to be a vessel to change the world. Dr. King...I wish we could chat over some chili and cornbread....maybe share a cornbread recipe or two....I mean he was from the South, duh!
Have a great day dreamers.
