Peony, open at last

Lots of blooms are open now on the peony; discovered a curious feature when I got in close to take this - there are stamens between layers of petals, as can be seen in this photo. In other fully open blooms, there are more in the centre. I've not noticed this before - do others find they see much more when they take macro photos?
