Australasians
There is a fair amount of rivalry (good-natured or otherwise) between New Zealand and Australia. No, I don't want to hear any sheep jokes, thank you. But our cousins "across the ditch" are our nearest neighbours and quite a lot of mingling goes on. Here it is evident in a small Canterbury reserve. In the background are Australian eucalypts and plane (see the kangaroo on its tail), and in the foreground are New Zealand natives- cabbage trees, flax, toitoi or toetoe, and tussock.
For those who like to know Latin names the NZ natives are Cordyline australis (The guy that named it didn't know the difference), Phormium tenax, Cortaderia richardii, and I don't know what the tussocks are.
