Young Jays

I sat in the car for over an hour waiting out a thunderstorm. When the rain eventually stopped, I ventured into the nature reserve and almost immediately heard these young jays getting a visit from a parent. I managed 3 shots before they moved on.

The Jay can raise its crown feathers to a crest when excited or displaying - I'm not sure what the reason is here.
