Night time sun
We stayed in watching the birds and the cows walking back and forwards until lunchtime and then went down to the Tearoom at Hoxa head. I had a very tasty scampi and chips followed by a very yummy raspberry and cream sponge. The Orcas had been in the flow the day before !
We went for a wander down the Roads in St Margarets Hope, known locally as The Hope. I like the names of the Roads eg, Back Road, Front Road, Doctors Road, Pier Road, School Road and Church Road.
We went into the lovely little craft shop where I bought a small pottery jug, some coasters and a couple of cards. There are 3 cruise ships coming into Kirkwall on Saturday and quite often coaches take passengers here so I expect it will be rather busy.
The sun shone brightly as we sat and enjoyed the Community Garden. It is very well maintained with a mass of flowers all in bloom. A beautiful deep pink rose smelt wonderful as we sat and had an ice lolly. Not so sure about the smell of the catmint though.
After tea we took a run out in the car and ended up back to the Pool of cletts for a stroll at 10.30 as the sky was changing to soft pinks and purples. Lots of the ducks had young including a family of shelducks.
This photo was taken on the shore near The Hope. The sky does nt get really dark at this time of year and we sat outside until gone midnight enjoying the orange glow and listening to the birds, the only sounds we could hear :)
