.....(as in 'quite interesting') facts that I discovered this morning....

* on 1st July 1837 we (in the UK) started (EDIT: centrally) registering births, marriages and deaths
* on 1st July 1937 we (in the UK) started dialing 999 in an emergency

Hmmm...two pieces of useless (and parochial) information before breakfast....now that's not bad.....even if I didn't actually find what I was looking for in the first place;-)
