Ringlet

I downloaded a butterfly identification app the other day in order to try and complete one of my knowledge gap filling ambitions - that being to be able to identify butterflies beyond the barest of common/basic awareness.

Anyway, I now know this butterfly is called a Ringlet or Aphantopus hyperantus and is widespread and is a low conservation priority. It likes tall, damp grass in woodland or pasture and is also found along hedgerows and verges. I was in a farm garden, near a large expanse of meadow grass, so I guess it fits. :)
