A Highland Burn

Driving up the Pass alongside Ben Lawers we paused as some shepherds and dogs ingathered some sheep.

The mountain visible ahead, sporting the magical Gaelic name, Beinn nan Oighreag, rises up alongside a high strath where the remains of the old shielings may be found. These were the stone and heather huts where the Highlanders spent the summer looking after the cattle on the high ground.

We were doing what is for us a regular holiday drive, up Glen Lyon and over this Pass to Loch Tay. But I was also doing a recce for a cycle later in the week. That's really committing me! Ah, well, perhaps the weather will intervene and save me.
