Free Roam of the Park!
Rachel was hosting a bookclub this morning. I was on Daniel watch but one of her friends had kindly offered to take us out if we wanted. Well, given the choice of the back garden or Graves Park, we chose the park. I've been to the park before but never realised that there was also a kids play area as well as the farm.
As soon as we were out of the car, Daniel was talking about the ducks. He soon changed his mind and decided the play area was the place to be. It seems his legs weren't working either and he needed to be carried. Thankfully I had Ian to help with this. We played on a number of different slides. A small one that he did by himself. A big one wide enough to fit Auntie Kat's bottom alongside him, though I was given strict instructions as to when I was allowed to climb up the steps, which side I was to be on and when I was allowed to go down. We also played on the really big one that he needed carried up. A lot of the time was also spent in the really big sandpit. It's beautiful to see a child so lost in play and so full of wonder at the world around them.
We did with a little persuasion even have time to go and see the animals too!
Once Daniel was down for his lunchtime nap, we enjoyed a leisurely lunch. I'd done some gardening the night before and created about 1o bags of waste so Ian kindly took them to the tip (along with Rachel and the kids) leaving me to continue my efforts of taming their "wildlife garden".
A lovely evening and some more alfresco beverages as we continued with our work.
