Gulliver's workshop
To work where I have at least 2 whole days of microinjecting. The image is of the beveling instrument that we use to sharpen the microneedles that we make. The end of the needle is only just visible at about x40 magnification so it's quite tricky putting a fine bevel on the tip. The needle is 1mm wide and gets to about 1um at the tip. The injections themselves are carried out at x200 magnification - but then a mosquito embryo is quite small.
I listened in anticipation as the US played Belguim, hoping for a victory for our hosts but to no avail. No doubt tomorrow I will be teased that at least the US got through the group stages!
