Mud shot
It was either a pretty Small Tortoiseshell on a purple flower, or this chap who wouldn't shut up as I walked through the Walled Garden at Shugborough. The snuffling won....
I'm certainly making the most of my National Trust membership. A sunny day like this - a late-ish start to Andy Murray's match (which isn't going too well as I write) - and I decided to pop down the road to see how things are going at Shugborough.
I love the drive through the wood, along that shaded route, to the car park. And I enjoy strolling through the field to the gardens and the main house.
I sat by the willow over the water for ages but there was no sign of the kingfisher. Just lively damselflies, blue banded demoiselles - and a cheeky squirrel.
Come on, Andy.......
