Taste of home: English scones for afternoon tea

Today I made scones with the niña I am taking care of. She was very excited about making something English! We had them with strawberry jam (mermelada de fresa) and (hand whipped, with a fork!) cream -delicious! And of course I had mine with a cup of English tea.

P.S. -how would you pronounce scones? with a short o, as in gone, or with a long o, as in bone? I am decidedly in the latter camp.
