El Chorro

The Garganta del Chorro is a 180 m high gorge about 11 kms from where we are staying and reached by an extremely sinuous, narrow, steep and barrier-less road. A drink and loo stop was required on arrival! It is only 10m wide at its narrowest point and, not surprisingly there is a hydro-electric dam just downstream from where this was taken.

On the right, just below the level of the bridge, you can make out a wooden walkway, the King's Pass, which fell into disrepair some years ago and has now been closed off since climbers(this is a big climbing area) used to see it as a challenge to swing across the missing bits of walkway, resulting in the odd fatality each year. We weren't tempted to try it!
