Thirty Three

I had plans to wake up this morning and make smoothies with all kinds of power supplements in, as an incentive to myself to start my thirty third year off the way I mean to go on.

Instead it was an extra cheeky hour lay in and a cup of tea in bed that felt more indulgent and fitting as a birthday treat and so I will think about the smoothies perhaps tomorrow now. Or maybe I won't.

Nothing special happened today and for exactly those reasons it made it kind of the perfect day. There was lemon drizzle and poppy seed cake eaten and lots of tea drunk. The last thing Aura said to her daddy this evening before she went to bed was 'Mama. Cake' so it's good to see that she's grasped the meaning of birthdays after today.

A highlight was watching this fine specimen mow the lawn. Something that I hope will be a regular occurrence by him and not just on my birthday. Here's hoping.
