Dib, dab, daub

I finally made it out into the wood during daylight hours this morning. I volunteered for the job picking up the mail - the journey takes me out past Pikes pond - a small pond with some surprisingly big fish - up past the birch wood area and on to the green work working area. This is a shot of the daub wall that precariously holds up the walls of an experimental shelter for learner to sit whilst whittling wood. The walls are wattle and daub - a lattice of wooden strips covered in a mixture of mud, hay, sand and dung. The lighter texture is lime render. I love that you can see the finger marks of young men, mostly excluded from school, that are learning interesting new things and crafting whole buildings from little but there own hard work.
