Electric Palace, Harwich

After a speedy vote in the local election and some tea round my Mum's, we sped off to Harwich for an evening with Simon Armitage. I'd never been to the Electric Palace before; one of the oldest cinemas in the country, and it's absolutely beautiful. As part of the Harwich arts festival, there were some fairly random cycling films being screened as we arrived, before Simon Armitage read a selection of his poems and prose. He loosely based the readings around the theme of travel, and I could have listened to him all night. He signed books at the end, and luckily I'd taken a couple along with me. We had a very nice chat about Iceland, and I left thinking about what an amazing career he has.
