Born in the USA

Helenium (of family Asteraceae native to the Americas).

I’ve always had a soft spot for these flowers. I first came across them in my Mum’s garden. She wasn’t much of a gardener and these made her job easy. They’d simply appear every year without any apparent help from her.

I was once lucky enough to visit the Badlands of South Dakota and Nebraska and these and their kin from the Daisy family were a common sight growing wild among prairie grasses.

This particular clump was a present from a friend. Thank you friend.

And to my friends in the USA, I wish you a peaceful 4th July.
