JAZ
It's another 4th of July. Elder Dog JAZ doesn't care one bit for the loud noises of celebration this day brings. The booms didn't used to bother her, until she lost her hearing. Now she feels the vibrations of the fireworks and also of thunder and they send her into an inconsolable panic. Calming chews, Calming Collar, various drugs and herThunderShirt...nothing seems to be effective anymore. We place her bed in a dark closet and sit on the floor with her until her terror subsides. She was a big, strong dog who feared nothing. Time changes us all, sometimes for the better. JAZ has always been extremely dog aggressive. But now, in her elder years, she gets along with all dogs. So age has been kind to her too. She is quickly approaching her 16th year with us. Our vet is amazed that she is still here.
So, I could have blipped the chicken we Hickory Smoked today or Tara 'discovering' the joys of a wet sandpile or a Dove (the world wide symbol of Peace) bullying all the other birds away from the feeders or or or...But I've chosen to Blip our Elder Dog JAZ smiling at my camera. That's Tara, just a dark silhouette in the foreground. She tries to snuggle up to JAZ, who is quick to remind her...no child, I'm not your mother!
Happy 4th of July...be careful with those fireworks!
