Newly emerged

I watched as this large red damselfly (Pyrrhosoma nymphula) pumped up its wings and began to change from a very pale colour to the usual red. Amazing to see and proof that our little pond is able to host the damselfly larvae. The exuvia can be seen on the leaf behind.
