The Rainbow Sheikh

Time for a museum visit - so we headed out to the desert on the road to Suadi Arabia to visit the UAE's National Motor Museum which houses the private car collection of Sheikh Hamad bin Hamdan Al Nayhan AKA The Rainbow Sheikh. This guy has got the coolest collection of cars I have ever seen, including :
7 Mercs, all individually painted in a different rainbow colour (including interiors)
A 6 seater moon buggy
Smoky's Trans Am
Three 1950s Thunderbirds
The largest jeep in the world

It is all housed in a pyramid in the desert. Very surreal but very very cool.

And the fin didn't end there - we carried on further into the desert and stopped for lunch at the Desert resort of Qasr Al Sarab. What an amazing place. Access from the main road is via a small 16km road through the sand dunes. It really is one of the most spectacular places I've been to. Mrs McG is keen for me to take her there later int he year - my bank manager is not so keen, however.

Then The Wee Man caught his first glimpse of camels roaming the desert before finally spotting the actors' trailers and support vehicles for the latest edition of Star Wars, which is being filmed at the moment.

Nat a bad day all in!
