After a morning spent saving a butterfly from drowning in my shower (it eventually dried out and flew off out of my bedroom window) and surfing the net reading about open water swimming (anyone for 5.25 miles in Coniston water?), I went out for waxing (ouch) at 10.30am. Then I met with B in Costa for a relaxing coffee and chinwag. I'm pleased she is having a new mole on her face removed soon as it had appeared from nowhere and there was some concern that it might be cancerous.
I then acquired such things as a green tarpaulin, a circuit breaker and some postcrete for various garden orientated tasks such as clipping the ivy and creating a hole for my new rotary washing line.
After nipping home, I then went out to look for local river swim spots I might consider trying out. Ever since I swam in the lake in Sweden on the most splendid week's holiday three years ago, I've been really keen to find some wild swim spots near me.
Having even discussed it with B at some length this morning, I was totally shocked to come across this chap (N) in a river very near me as I ventured out to get some shots. I asked if I could take his photo and then struck up a conversation with him. He swims here most days apparently. The spot is very quiet and though just on the edge of a town is completely hidden from the road so unless you choose to walk that way (unlikely as it goes nowhere) you'd never spot him.
I've been greatly encouraged by what he had to say and I am now trying to pluck up the courage to have a go myself tomorrow. He's camping there at present so he may be around. (If not, fear not, I do have all the safety advice sorted and am going to be very cautious and not take any risks, so I promise I will be safe even on my own). Watch this space.
When I got home I found L had arrived with his son, J, and I watched the football with J. Well, he did Facebook the whole time while I watched and tried to get more than one syllable out of him! I prepared his room as he is now staying for two weeks work experience with his Dad.
I reckon I need to watch the other match tonight too. After all, the World Cup is only on every four years. However I backed France, so I've already lost.
