Rope Swing
Mini road trip today for Tom, Kirb, and me. We ventured out to Canby to pick (up) 120 pounds of organic blueberries at beautiful Morningshade Farms. Together, Tom and I have lived in Oregon over 120 years, and we've never been out to this area before. We also discovered Aurora, and we'll be going back. One store title for someone who I know follows this posting and I know is interested in such locations: Aurora Architectural Salvage. Oh yeah, DF…it's the real deal (but bring your $$$$).
This picture though, is taken on the Molalla River. As the temps approached 90 degrees, we looked for a place to take Kirb for a swim and found this just outside Canby. We watched a couple of knuckleheads plummet from the swing into the cool waters, and I couldn't help but think of my summer days on rope swings and rocks above the cool waters of the North Umpqua, the South Umpqua, Little River, Colliding Rivers, the McKenzie, Cavett Creek, the Calapooya. While this picture lacks perfection in the angle of light upon the swinger's face, in some ways I like it better this way. It's a reminder of my youth…clear in the big picture, a little dim in the details. Enjoy these swings and these swims, young man. They don't last forever.
