The rain came!

Langdale Beck went from a dry riverbed at the top end to a raging torrent on Friday night. So even on Saturday morning the levels under Elterwater Bridge were high even though it had dropped a couple of feet.

On Elterwater on Friday evening the Great Crested Grebes were building up the height of their nest - I doubt if they could build it high enough last night :-(

The journey home down the A65 was as quiet as I have ever seen - everybody had deserted the area to go to watch Stage 1 of the Tour de France flying through Yorkshire just the other side of the Peaks.
