Success & Failure

The weather disturbances off the coast are causing some good sized waves in our normally protected bay. This morning they were big enough to draw a half dozen surfers to Playa La Madera. While I would typically use my faster frame rate Canon 7D for these types of action photos, I was toting my 6D as I headed back from the market, but decided to shoot anyway. I was fortunate to capture this faux panorama (the full frame sensor allows for some impressive cropping) of these two surfers, one successfully riding the wave while the other wipes out with a face full of ocean, after only a short time watching. Beat anything else I shot that day, which wasn't much as World Cup quarterfinal games dominated much of the free time I would normally devote to shooting.
