Fun In Verulamium
I've covered some miles today!!
After I dropped the Little Misses off at school - along with their car seats for Nana to collect later, I headed off to High Wycombe to collect a desk I'd bought on eBay. Once again my sat nav decided it wanted to see as much of the Buckinghamshire countryside as possible and go down the narrowest, bendiest lanes!
But I got there eventually, picked up the lovely child's roll top desk and then headed off to St Albans to meet Mrs S and Mr M.
This time the Sat nav plumped for the M40 and M25 which was less picturesque but a good bit speedier.
We had an hour or so chatting and drinking tea and then headed off to Verulamium Park for lunch and a play in the fabulous splash park.
After circling the car park for what felt like hours in the roasting hot car we gave up - too many hot, impatient and stressed people circling round too!! - drove round to the other side of the park and found a space in a layby.
The walk down to the splash park was gorgeous. Blue sky, fluffy clouds and beautiful views of the cathedral and city.
We had lunch at the Inn on the Park which was tasty and then watched Mr M having a fab time in the splash park - a toddler's dream of fountains, pipes, spouts and showers. It was amazing!
It was all I could do to stop myself running in and joining them!
We went back to Mrs S's for tea and a couple of hours in the garden. Very nice!
Then it was time for me to head off to Bicester to Miss K's for dinner. I thought I'd left plenty of time for the journey but naturally I hadn't so I ended up driving most of the way at top speed which is never very relaxing!
But I was only a few minutes late and it was lovely to see Miss K.
And I very much enjoyed my chicken rogan josh!
Driving home - after staying too late as usual - was one of those journeys that I couldn't really recall when I got home. Oops!
